I’m transcribing my phone interview with David Fincher right now, and he didn’t mention a Fight Club musical to me, and we even talked about that movie! I guess I don’t have the kind of interview skills that MTV’s Josh Horowitz does, as he got The Finch (I call him that now, we’re budz) to say a sentence about just such a possibility:
MTV: You told us about a year ago you were interested in doing a musical.
Fincher: One of the things I want at the 10-year anniversary is to do "Fight Club" as a musical on Broadway. I love the idea of that.
I’m singing ‘His Name Is Robert Paulsen’ right now in the comfort of my own home. I see ‘Snowflake’ as the big dance number, maybe with a motif that recurs throughout. A whole army of Space Monkeys doing synchronized moves. Finch, gimme a call about this.
Now it’s back to transcribing. I asked Fincher about Fight Club fans who don’t seem to get the movie, who don’t ever get past Tyler Durden as a cool figure, and he told me that he’s much more concerned with people who are big fans of Seven.
