The Signal is a pretty great and definitely unusual small horroresque movie that I caught at this year’s LA Screamfest. When a strange signal begins to be emitted from all broadcast devices like TVs and radios, people start to go psychotically nuts, murdering the shit out of each other. Presented as a triptych of interwoven stories, The Signal is really a fucked up love triangle set against an insane apocalypse.
The poster above is the final one sheet for the movie, which is getting a theatrical release from Magnolia in February. It’s a good poster, but I am concerned it may oversell the scope of the movie to an extent. Yes, the action does take place across an entire city, but the movie is really a series of fairly intimate set pieces. Alternately weird, funny and scary, this is a little movie that can and does.
