http://chud.com/nextraimages/robertrodriguez.jpgYesterday Latino Review broke the news that Warner Bros wanted Robert Rodriguez to direct their remake of Clash of the Titans. Quint from Aint It Cool News was able to get in touch with Rodriguez directly and ask him the deal; according to the director Warner Bros came at him with the movie, he loved the script and thought long and hard about it but then decided that since the film was a pre-strike priority for the studio he couldn’t do it. Rodriguez would rather be out there attaching his name to movies that won’t get made than jump on to a sure fire thing, I guess.

The best bit of information to come out of all this is that Rodriguez joins the chorus of voices praising Lawrence Kasdan’s script. A good script is rare enough in Hollywood these days (that’s not even a strike reference), and they’re even rarer when it comes to remakes. If the Clash of the Titans script really is good, we’re just a decent director away from a movie that might actually be kind of awesome.
