http://chud.com/nextraimages/cainealfred1.jpgYou need to hop over to the MTV Movies Blog right this very instant and check out this sliver of Josh Horowitz’s interview with Michael Caine and Jude Law – and not just because it’s fun to watch the latter seethe whilst considering all of the superhero roles he’s lost out on. Though Horowitz could learn a lesson in the art of the segue from yours truly, he gets a very telling response from Caine on the subject of Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight.

According to Caine, "It’s one of the scariest performances I’ve ever seen. Really."

Folks, this man’s done battle with killer bees. He banged Joseph Bologna’s daughter. He knows him some scary.

Caine goes on to say that he doesn’t share a scene with Aaron Eckhart’s Two-Face, so if you were hoping for an Alfred/Two-Face showdown, your life is now without meaning. He also adds, "[Batman Begins] is a very good picture, but The Dark Knight will be… different. It’ll have a third act that isn’t dripping shit." Hey, honest injun, that’s a verbatim quote!

Still, it’s nice to hear Caine, one of the best interviews out there, saying nice things about The Dark Knight. And it’s awfully sad to watch Law pondering what might’ve been. On the plus side, he seems to have my balding pattern.
