I’ve still got a few heavy duty reviews for films like Amour and Rust & Bone from the Savannah Film Festival to get up (the last one was for the unexpectedly great Rise Of The Guardians), but one smaller film I’ll definitely be getting something up for is In Our Nature. It’s a very small movie, but it makes brave choices about what it does and does not resolve between its dysfunctional characters and features some great acting from folks like Roger Slattery (Mad Men), Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights), Jean Malone (Sucker Punch), and Gabrielle Union (Think Like A Man).

It’s a simple story of an awkward weekend shared by a just-short-of-estranged father and son, and the girlfriends to whom they have yet to introduce each other. It’s funny, touching, and gets pretty raw from time to time as these characters all battle for the high ground on the shifting sands of their insecurities.

I’d highly suggest catching the film, but it’s going to be tough for most. Right now it has only two theaters set to play it- one in NY on December 1st and another in Austin on December 14th.  This might be a VOD title for a lot of folks, but it will make a nice wine/blankets/significant other kind of movie anyway.

Keep up with the film at on its Facebook page.
