You may have seen photos of the poster above, which premiered at Zack Snyder’s Watchmen panel and was given out to fans at Comic Con, but this is the official release. What you’re looking at is brand new Dave Gibbons art from one of the most seminal scenes in comic book history – the killing of the Comedian. To me, drawing this close a parallel between the comic and the movie is not just ballsy but indicative of where Snyder is going with this movie: incredibly faithful.

In other news, the official casting press release for Watchmen came out, and check these producer credits:

Watchmen will be produced by Lawrence Gordon (Die Hard), Lloyd Levin (United 93) and Deborah Snyder (300), with Herbert W. Gains serving as executive producer.

It’s interesting to see what credits the producers were given, especially CHUDdy Buddy Lloyd Levin, who also produced Hellboy, a movie more in the comic book world. But by putting United 93 for him, I think we’re being sent a message of what kind of movie is being made – a serious film, not a comic book-y action spectacular.

CHUD was one of two online outlets to get a Snyder one on one at Con; you’ve already heard what he had to say about Gerard Butler’s role in Watchmen (click here to read it), and I’ll soon have the whole thing… including Snyder’s reaction to the Heroes storyline that rips off Watchmen whole.
