# 78 – Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors

Sam Raimi’s first idea for organic web-shooters was nixed by both the MPAA and the United Vein Association of Manitoba (U.V.A.M.).

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors:

Freddy makes his only appearance on our list here, partly because his quips after every murder have become so grating that they have overshadowed any strength the kill might have had, and partly because the Elm Street series rarely had really good and original kills. Still, Dream Warriors is widely considered the best of the sequels, second only to the original, and it happens to feature the best death of all of them. Dreaming quietly in his bed, a young man has his wrists sliced open vertically by Freddy, who then pulls the kids tendons out. Using the tendons like strings on a puppet, Freddy maneuvers the boy over to a window, and cuts the tendons free from his control which sends the kid falling to his doom. The effects in this scene are grossly fantastic, and the scene in turn is disturbing. (S.M.)

SHOCKING!

TOMORROW: #77 (Hint: Cranial Donation.)
