Beginning in 2006, Planet Hulk was pretty out there as far as stories involving the jade giant are concerned. The storyline saw Hulk banished from Earth and jettisoned off to the other end of the solar system. Hulk lands on a hostile alien planet where he rises from gladiator to conquerer, taking over the planet and impregnating its alien queen who later births a fully grown (and green) man-baby.

Man-babies notwithstanding, the arc has potential to make a really terrific film. And producer Kevin Feige agrees, stating as much in an interview with MTV:

“I don’t think there’s a lot that we couldn’t do someday, as the cinematic universe continues to grow and expand and get as big as the comic book universe,” Marvel’s Kevin Feige told me when I asked him if we’d ever see a movie based on “Planet Hulk,” the Greg Pak-written epic that sees the Jade Giant as a rebel leader on an alien planet, “Gladiator” style.

“‘Planet Hulk’ is a cool story,” he added. “

I’m seeing a lot of reputable sources treating this exchange as confirmation that we’re getting a Planet Hulk on film when, in actuality, nothing could be further from the truth. Someone asked Feige a question and he answered it. What’s he going to say? No?

In all liklihood, Marvel is toying with the idea of a new Hulk film. The character is almost uuniversally touted as one of the best things about Avengers – all but assuring another solo effort. But what form that film ultimately takes is no more in focus than before Feige answered this softball.
