For tanking so spectacularly the box office, Grindhouse is still amassing quite the pedigree – popping out new cinematic afterbirth like Machete and Hobo with a Shotgun every few years. Now, in the most Eli Roth of ways, the Hostel director confirms to Behind the Thrills that his Thanksgiving is next in line to get the feature treatment:
“Dude, it’s gonna happen.”
Nice. He goes on to say that Jon Watts and Christopher D. Ford of Clown fame are putting together a treatment and that a screenplay is next on the docket.
I think Roth’s a director that’s only improved since Cabin Fever, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store with cannibal opus The Green Inferno. I’d expect Thanksgiving to be a relatively quick, cheap shoot in keeping with the “grindhouse” theme. While hardly confirmed, I would expect this to be Roth’s next project once wrapping on Inferno barring script difficulties. And with a trailer like this one (NSFW), I wouldn’t expect very many script difficulties:
