I’m back! I’m not sure if you noticed I was gone, but I can declare with authority that I am back. It’s weird being out of touch with gaming news for a week or so. I return, and I’m not sure if all my giddy revelations will be met with yawns and dull eyes.

First and foremost of those revelations is a mere rumor, a tease, a cock-trap, if you will. Like some baited glory hole, it coaxes your penis in and then refuses to release it. Blizzard will soon have more male members than it knows what to do with, thanks to the little tease mentioned here. It’s anyone’s guess what the big question mark represents, and anyone will guess correctly, I’d wager. You can pretty safely prepare yourself for a Zergling rush. I’m pretty curious to see what clues Blizzard has taken from the maturation of the RTS genre since the first Starcraft came out. Gimme some Rise of Nations construction mechanics, and I’m sold.

The guys over at Penny Arcade have been pretty vocal about their love of Odin Sphere, an unassuming little gem for the PS2. 1up, via GameVideos, has their video review of the thing, which ought to inspire some emotion in you one way or the other. Personally, I’m excited to give it a shot, but it’s the sort of excitement that bubbles around with no outlet for a while, and then I have to pee.

On Saturday, Slashdot posted a nice compilation of media impressions of the Halo 3 invite beta. The experience seemed mostly positive for the writers who participated, occasional schooling notwithstanding. Slashdot also links to several related interviews with prominant members of the Halo 3 development team.

Sony’s bright hope in the midst of their current nightmares (PR, at least) is the advent of Home and the cooperative game/thing LittleBigPlanet. I’m pretty excited for LittleBigPlanet especially, as it seems to encapsulate everything that I used to love about cooperative gameplay (and recently rediscovered in the tabletop game Arkham Horror.) EvilAvatar has a fact sheet distributed by Sony to give us a bit more hard and fast information on how the game-speriment will function.

And, finally, let’s look at the things I’m not allowed to buy this week, just because I have to eat:
