It seems to me that Tom Cruise’s highest priority these days is bringing entertainment to the people, as his work schedule has been nearly constant and his divorce seemed engineered to provide the rags with as little juice as possible. Imagine the more normal universe where that shit took over headlines for weeks off and on… glad it was avoided.

Now, having finished filming the epic scifi film Oblivion for Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy), Tom has apparently deplaned in London. I imagine he might partake in some of that Olympic action going on over there starting Friday, but most importantly he’s joined up with Doug Liman (Bourne Identity, Jumper) to get rolling on All You Need Is Kill.

If you don’t recall, the Dante Harper-scripted scifi action film features a death-based time loop premise that has Cruise’s character battling aliens to the death over and over until he learns what’s necessary to triumph (presumably). It’s one of two action films in development with a similar premise, with the other being Joe Carnahan’s Continue, which ditches aliens in favor of assassins trying to take out the resurrecting hero.

Now that All You Need Is Kill is actually starting production, I don’t know if Joe’s project will move forward, but it’s clear that despite divorces and shitty rock musicals, Tom Cruise is sure going to.
