With all the talk of Hulk, Iron Man 2 and the future Marvel Studios slate, not to mention the rest of this summer’s lineup, it’s been easy to forget about The Punisher. Since the film doesn’t hit until December, that’s not such a bad thing. Lionsgate has time to let it simmer.

So I’m actually surprised to see a trailer arriving online. Why not hold it until at least Comic Con, and perhaps even later in the year, so that people don’t have a chance to (really) forget about the movie before it opens?

Doesn’t matter now. And contrary to expectation, I find myself enjoying the color we see here. In stills the palette looked too garish, but in motion the super-saturated scheme works better. Not that I get any better sense of story from this clip. Granted, it is the Punisher, but this looks like little more than two hours of guns and scowls. And I can’t wait to hear what some of you have to say about the turtleneck.

Head to IGN to see the trailer in various definitions.
