The cast list of Watchmen has been released, and you’ll be familiar with almost all of the names on it if you’ve been reading this site the last couple of weeks. You’d be familiar with one more of the names if I had been able to confirm a scoop I was sent last week, but I couldn’t and I didn’t want to run a story I couldn’t be 100% behind. Turns out my scooper, who told me Jeffrey Dean Morgan of Supernatural and Grey’s Anatomy was cast. Sorry, scooper, it wasn’t that I didn’t trust you. Especially since you were right.
So the formality of the cast list:
Jackie Earle Haley is Rorschach.
Billy Crudup is Dr. Manhattan.
Patrick Wilson is Nite Owl II.
Malin Akerman is Laurie Juspeczyk, aka Silk Spectre II.
Matthew Goode is Ozymandias.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is The Comedian.
There’s some more major news yet to come out of this – I’m hoping to be able to run it before my one on one with Zack Snyder here at Comic Con on Friday – but looking at that list it’s undeniable: after so many years and false starts, the Watchmen movie is happening.
