If nothing else, the poster for Whiteout made me reread the original Greg Rucka/Steve Lieber graphic novel. See, the poster has all this text on it and some of the text says ‘serial killer.’ I didn’t remember there being a ‘serial killer’ in the book, but I hadn’t read it in a couple of years. So in I went!

Whiteout is about US Deputy Marshal Carrie Stetko, who is investigating the first ever murder in Antartica. It’s a tight, suspenseful crime story, and a number of corpses do pile up, but the black hat in this one is no serial killer. Of course, Carrie Stetko in the comic is dumpy and plain looking, while she’s Kate Beckinsale. In the comic she works together with a beautiful blonde Englishwoman*, the role that Beckinsale SHOULD have been playing. Instead it looks like that character is out of the movie, and taking that along with the words ‘serial killer’ make me wonder what the fuck this film is about anyway. Ugh.

Anyway, here’s the poster, thanks to Beyond Hollywood. It would be a good album cover from the 70s if that was a spaceship in her glasses.
