I was writing this lengthy editorial about the crash and burn of Tim Burton’s career, waiting only to finally see Alice In Wonderland tonight before really declaring a verdict on Burton, but then this video from College Humor popped up and said pretty much everything I wanted to say. This video almost isn’t funny so much as it’s completely and totally true – Burton has stopped being a filmmaker and become a brand, a way to sell things to a certain disaffected white demographic. He’s made one or two movies since Ed Wood that are even worth seeing, let alone revisiting (I recently discovered how sour Sweeney Todd gets on second viewing. Awful). Will Alice break that streak or is it more of the same, as so astutely noted in this video?
