The first time you saw a teaser or trailer from any of Quentin Tarantino’s first movies, you knew immediately that you were being promised something iconic and entertaining. If you watch the clip below, which is an ad for Entertainment Tonight’s premiere of the teaser for Inglourious Basterds, you’ll see something less impressive.

Not that the footage looks bad, though that “…and I want my scalps!” line doesn’t really sit right, but this is just a lousy way to get your first view of Tarantino’s new film in motion. The teaser will debut in some form tonight on ET, and then hit theaters this weekend in front of Friday the 13th. Hopefully a high quality version will appear online no later than Monday.

In the meantime, if you can’t wait…

EDIT: And yes, for all the people who haven’t been following along, it’s been ‘Basterds’ since day one. But apparently it’s ‘Inglourious’, too. I just looked at the script’s title page again and it’s been spelled that way all along. We picked up on the change to ‘bastards’ but not the other one…I bet Tarantino’s been laughing his damn ass off for months about that.

UPDATE: Here’s the full ET clip in HD. (The version embedded here is pretty good, but you can see a nice full-screen version at YouTube.)

UPDATE AGAIN: That full ET clip has been removed. But that doesn’t matter anymore, as the full teaser is online.
