Rather than broaden his filmmaking skills beyond people standing around reciting overwritten dialogue, writer-director Kevin Smith has literally gone back to where he started with Clerks 2.

The sequel (which I pray has dropped the idiotic subtitle The Passion of the Clerks) picks up ten puffy years later, with strip mall employees Dante and Randal now working for a nationwide corporate fast-food entity, as Smith mugs for the camera and Jason Mewes dances for the eight people still amused by it. Aside from cameos by Smith veterans, the only famous faces among the cast are Rosario Dawson (soooo fine) and Wanda Sykes (who is apparently supposed to be funny, though I’ve yet to see evidence).

Ah, well. At least Randal should have a few quality zingers. And did I mention Rosario Dawson is in it?
