If you’re driving through NYC tomorrow night you might notice that the Empire State Building is glowing green. No, it isn’t a warning that the Irish are roaming drunk throughout the city, it’s changing colors in order to celebrate the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ 25th birthday.

That’s right, the turtles are actually pushing 40.

Organizers from the Tribeca Film Festival are throwing a special free screening of the 1990 movie adaptation at the World Financial Center in the city, which will be turned into the sewer set from the film. If that weren’t enough, they want you to dress like the turtles in order to break the Guinness World Record for “Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Ninja Turtles”. When did that book jump the shark? The record was set by a group of sad individuals (786 of them!) at Rutgers University last year.

That said, it sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun so if you’re in NYC check it out.
