I’ll admit that I don’t watch The Daily Show or The Colbert Report as religiously as I’d like these days, but at different times I’ve gone months without missing a show and always love to catch up when I can. These shows, like Conan’s, are institutions that are comforting just by virtue of existing- even when we can’t watch, we know they’re out there doing good.

In any event, Comedy Central has apparently gone through some contract renewals on their slate, with the result being guaranteed Jon Stewart through mid-2015 (16 seasons!) and Colbert through at least the end of 2014 (9 seasons!). That’s quite a lot of material between now and then, so there will be no lack of satirical political television over the next few, certainly crazy years.

It wouldn’t be a bad thing to see these guys in movies a little more often or something, but really these shows are where they belong. It’s a truly extraordinary thing for a personality to carve out a successful show that is also sustainable on the long-term, so here’s to 10 more years from both.
