Everything else from the 80s is getting a second chance, so why not Ted Danson, Tom Selleck and Steve Guttenberg? A couple of months ago The Gutt said that Disney was developing Three Men and a Bride, and it wasn’t really clear if this was a true thing or wishful thinking on the part of a guy who used to be really famous and is now a punchline.
Turns out it’s real. MTV talked to Tom Selleck and he back up The Gutt’s claims.
“It is true that Disney checked my availability,” he said. “And I know they checked Ted’s and Steve’s, and then had a script written, I think tentatively called ‘Three Men and a Bride,’ which kind of says it all [about the story].”
“I hope it’s a good script, and if it is a good script I hope they do it, because it would be really fun to get back with Ted and Steve,” he said. “The strongest of the two movies I think is the first one. It had more heart, and that’s what I hope this third one would have if we do it.”
Since the baby from the first film would now be a grown woman in her early 20s, who could play the part? And wouldn’t it be kind of amazing if one of the storylines had the Ted Danson going all Woody Allen on her? I would be there opening day to enjoy such uncomfortable psychosexuality. Someone call Todd Solondz stat!!!
BTW, here’s my pitch: play into the old urban legends about there being a ghost in the first movie and have the young woman die and come back as a spirit. Three Men and a Phantom just sells itself.
