I liked the first National Treasure. Not enough to ever see it again or buy the DVD or anything, but enough to give it a passing grade of 7/10 in my review. I found the movie to be charmingly old fashioned at its core, but I wonder how much charm the sequel to the surprise hit may have. This time Nic Cage and friends take their treasure hunt global, and maybe we’ll get some half-baked trivia about the French Revolution and the Magna Carta. And maybe the law of diminishing returns won’t be so hard on a movie from which I don’t expect much anyway.
