http://chud.com/nextraimages/shortbusposter2.jpgJohn Cameron Mitchell’s Shortbus, the sexually explicit follow-up to his awesome rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, was one of my Top Fifteen films of 2006. Mitchell and his cast took some real risks, including engaging in actual sex on screen, but never took the movie into boring art film territory. The sex in Shortbus is part of the story and the characters, and never half as gratuitous as your average fight scene in an action movie.

For most of you the first opportunity to see Shortbus will be on DVD (either because it didn’t play near you or because you want to whack it to that one VJ from MuchMusic who is naked and has sex in the movie) – and maybe you can see it with your name in the credits. There’s a promotion aimed at raising awareness of the DVD and the concept is simple: you send an e-card about Shortbus to five friends and your name will be included in the credits on the DVD. I don’t know if the names will be added to the credits at the end of the movie or if your name will appear on the DVD credits, but either way your name is there and you’ve helped promote a legitimately good and risk-taking film.

Click here to send the e-card. You have to be 18 and you may want to consider not opening that at work, unless you work in a porn store. Shortbus is on DVD on March 13th, and this promotion ends January 19th.
