As the official apologist for Ocean’s Twelve (here and here), I’m proud to say that Ocean’s Thirteen looks like a worthy entry in the series people seem predisposed to be incredulous about but all seem to see. There’s a funny backlash from folks thinking "oh shit, Clooney and Soderbergh are sleepwalking again", something that amuses me since the last film was such an odd and quirky departure.

That said, most everyone seems to be going out of their way to indicate that this is more like the Ocean’s Twelve that people wanted, polished and playful and big.

And with Al Pacino, who gets most to do in a trailer which seems to showcase the boys donning no shortage of costumes. I have no doubts it’ll be fun. There are a lot of actors in this cast with an eye for material and they’re not going to let this film be a sour note to end the series on.

Plus, it’s written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, big time friends of the site and people I’d trust with a project like this. You know it’ll be fun, you know it’ll have no shortage of coolness, and they’ve shown a little bit of savvy when it comes to stories somehow connected to the world of high stakes gambling and all that jazz.

I’m done apologizing for the second film. I’m ready for a nice big crowd pleaser we can all get behind, silly one-sheet be damned.
