Woman in Black was an enjoyable affair. It gets off track in parts, but the mood and atmosphere were the film’s best assets. It had some decent jump scares and was short enough to make for a very decent rental if you haven’t already seen it.
That said, the box office take wasn’t out of this world – not to mention that the story felt pretty self-contained. So it was somewhat surprising when Hammer announced they going back to the well for a sequel. Still, this premise is intriguing. Courtesy of ShockTilYouDrop:
“Seized by the government and converted into a military mental hospital during World War II, the sudden arrival of disturbed soldiers to Eel Marsh Harsh has awoken its darkest inhabitant. Eve, a beautiful young nurse, is sent to the house to care for the patients but soon realizes she must save them from more than their own demons. Despite Eve’s efforts to stop her, one by one they fall victim to the Woman in Black.”
The WWII premise seems like an organic approach to getting people back in that house for some fresh scares. Hopefully the as-yet-unannounced director will build upon the atmosphere and tone that director James Watkins infused into the original.
