The new preview trailer might help you forget, for a moment, all of the negative buzz that’s been surrounding Universal’s The Wolf Man. Not perfect (holy CGI overkill at the end there – are any of the elements real in the London shots?) but much better than I expected, the teaser trailer shows off some ways that the new movie is faithful to the original and ways that it really veers off into being its own film. Most interesting to me is the way Benicio Del Toro plays Larry Talbot – he’s just channeling Lon Chaney Jr! Hell, I think he kind of looks like Lon in some of these shots.
The Wolf Man is my favorite Universal monster; here’s hoping that these two minutes don’t make up the only good stuff in the movie.
