In the past the Alamo Drafthouse’s Rolling Roadshow has gone to some pretty amazing places – Monument Valley to screen The Searchers, Devil’s Tower to show Close Encounters of the Third Kind – and this summer is no exception. One thing I did notice, though, is that most of the locations are pretty accessible for folks, which should mean great attendance at these incredible screenings.

The concept behind the Rolling Roadshow is simple: the Alamo takes an inflatable screen across the country and shows movies where they were shot or at places that are appropriate to show them. One year I saw The Warriors in Coney Island. It’s a great experience, and it’s always a lot of fun.

And this year looks to be bonkers. The movies are all great and the locations are so cool. Somebody throw me some funds so I can follow this tour across the country – I would love to see every single one of these movies at every single one of these locations. EW broke the itinerary, and here it is:

Aug. 6 Jackie Brown, at Los Angeles’ Del Amo Fashion Mall
Aug. 7 Dirty Harry, at San Francisco’s Washington Square Park
Aug. 8 There Will Be Blood, at California’s Kern County Museum
Aug. 8 Convoy, at the Ft. Davis drive-in in Las Vegas, N.M.
Aug. 13 The Blues Brothers, at Chicago’s Joliet Prison
Aug. 14 RoboCop, at Detroit’s Russell Industrial Center
Aug. 19 Rocky I-III, at the Philadelphia Art Museum
Aug. 20 On the Waterfront, at Hoboken’s Pier A
Aug. 27 The Godfather Part II, on a Manhattan rooftop near Little Italy

I’ll almost certainly be at Jackie Brown and There Will Be Blood. I’ve been meaning to get back east to visit my grandmother in New York, and this could be a good time…

BTW, I suspect there’s a typo on the date for Convoy, but there should be more info coming soon.
