You may already know that I’m a huge fan of Mike Dougherty’s Halloween-themed horror film Trick ‘r Treat – I put it on my 2008 Top Ten even though it has no release date of any sort at the time – so I’m happy that the film will finally be getting in front of audiences. While I would rather see a more muscular release than the fests it’ll be playing in the coming weeks (including Fantastic Fest!), a DVD/Blu-Ray release is way better than never fucking coming out at all.

And for a while that looked like Trick ‘r Treat‘s final fate. Warner Bros was just sitting on a very commercial, very fun, very good horror movie. Once upon a time a film like that might have just disappeared, but this is the 21st century and there are internet nerds like yours truly working to make that not happen. And Mike Dougherty, being a good guy, has recognized the support he got from fans and nerd critics and genre festivals, and he talked about it a bit with Wired Magazine.

Keep your eyes on the official site
for an announcement of just when in October the DVD/Blu-Ray will hit, and if you’re in London, go to Frightfest and see Trick ‘r Treat on the big screen!
