Good news for people sick of seeing movies filming in Toronto and Vancouver – there’s a new studio in Brooklyn, New York, and it’s already seen some important action. The first film to be shot at the new Steiner Studios, next to the Brooklyn Navy Yard and very close to my house, was The Producers. Now Spike Lee is bringing his next film, The Inside Man, there.
The film will star Denzel Washington, Jodi Foster and Clive Owen, and it will be about a bank heist gone wrong. Hopefully this is going to be Spike’s return to making movies people want to see, since I think he’s one of the great modern directors and deserves the attention.
The movie starts shooting on June 27th. You can bet I will be on the phone with Universal trying to get a set visit for this one.
