For all the cautious optimism surrounding The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and the two accompanying films to be released later, I thought that first trailer was fairly solid. That said, this one is better. Tolkien’s The Hobbit obviously offers a change in tone to lighter fare, but the connective tissue between what we’re seeing here and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is still evident – no more so than the seemingly true-to-form return of Sir Ian McKellan as the much looser Gandalf the Grey.
