This is potentially a spoiler (I’d say in the vein of ruining the badass Zombieland cameo), so tread lightly if you’re super jazzed about The Hangover 2 and haven’t already looked at too many movie news headlines.

Anyway…

If there’s any star in need of a silly turn in a hit comedy to make people remember his charm and screen presence it’s definitely Mel Gibson in three years. According to Page Six (BWAHAHAHA), he isn’t waiting that long and will be cameoing as Thailand-based tattoo artist in the upcoming film. The, erhm, source told Page Six the following:

“It’s a done deal. Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built, and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October.”

I believe this story about as far as I can throw it (if I printed it out and stapled it to Robert Paulson’s dead ass), but it’s certainly not the most aggressively retarded rumor to ever be spun. I can envision the scenario wherein Mel Gibson’s publicist decides to go on the offensive to save old Mel’s acting career without the obligatory 3-5 year laying low. The actor gets a quick cameo in a sure-fire beloved comedy hit, and the production gets to exploit an on-the-outs A-lister for cheap self-deprecating humor. As much as tabloids and editorials want to take a “Americans can forgive you once, but not repeatedly” stance, it’s utter bullshit. Gibson will be fine eventually, and even sooner if he has a sense of humor about it- there’s no faster way to redemption than to get the masses to laugh at how silly your violent verbal outburst was. Everyone wins! Except for all of those people Mel verbally abused and stuff. Except for them. But fuck them. Stupid asshole cunts.

Someone will call bullshit on this right quick, or it’s true and we’ll say “Oh yeah! The cameo! Cute.” come opening night. Time will tell.

I’ll admit, I love Google imaging for Hangover pictures, because the cock poster and the OMG tiger get me every time.
