I’ve been a fan of H.P. Lovecraft for many years. I actively took interest around the beginning of the last decade, but it wasn’t until much later (around 2008) that I actually started reading some of his material. It’s the stuff nightmares are made of. He’s inspired many a author and filmmaker, and it seems that the French are going with it with a film called Dead Shadows.

Here’s the synopsis for it.

“Dead Shadows tells the terrifying story about a young man, Chris, whose parents were brutally killed 11 years ago – the same day that Hayley’s Comet could be seen from earth. Tonight, a new comet is going to appear and everyone in his building is getting ready for a party to celebrate the event. There’s even an apocalypse theory going around.

As the night falls, Chris starts to discover that people are acting strange – and it seems to somehow be connected to the comet. People are becoming disoriented and violent and it doesn’t take long before they start mutating into something from beyond this world. In a fight for survival, Chris has to try to escape from his building with the help from some other tenants – but will they make it out alive?“

Here’s the trailer.

The trailer is pretty impressive, and as my article title suggests, I believe that the French are the ones who are continuing to create fun and scary horror films. If you haven’t seen it, I suggest you see The Horde. I was recommended this film by B-Action Thread mainstay, Fat Elvis, and loved it. It’s on Netflix streaming if you have that.

The imagery in the trailer alone has me anticipating this film that’s just seem to pop up on the radar.
