Dark Knight. You know it’s a slow news day when you’re reporting on no news coming from the anticipation of news from an event promising all kinds of news that’s still 3 weeks away. Of course, I refer to the upcoming Comic-Con taking place in the kiln-fired heat of a San Diego July.

As for news there will be no news, it’s all swirling around the expectation of Warner Brothers screening some The Dark Knight footage. Consider those expectations neutered thanks to Old Father Time. It’s not ready yet*. However, plan on attending the Chicago Wizard World in August, where footage is expected to be ready for display and subsequent posting on You Tube.

Most everything we’ve heard beyond the obvious EW feed has been by way of secret spoiler or spy report, so you can’t blame the Batman faithful for getting all worked up with all the other promise of major announcements coming out of Comic-Con this year. Still, if it’s any consolation, a recent Bale interview nebulously references the script ending for The Dark Knight: "The script leaves room for a very interesting follow-up, too. I think we could take it somewhere else." Nebulous indeed. Sorry, that’s all I’ve got.

You can read the full Bale interview here, but don’t expect anything else re: The Dark Knight.

*If the news of no Batman footage leaves you too bitterly disappointed to attend Comic-Con ’07, assuage your grief and allow me to bear the disappointment for you.
