Slumdog Millionaire’s Anil Kapoor is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming Mission: Impossible IV. Commenting on casting, Kapoor simply stated, “I was approached for the project and I said yes.” Kapoor was last seen in the final season of 24 as President Omar Hassan. Brad Bird is directing the fourth outing of the Tom Cruise / Ving Rhames spy franchise. Kapoor joins Cruise, Rhames, Simon Pegg, Michael Nyqvist, Josh Holloway, Jeremy
Renner, Paula Patton and Vladimir Mashkov. The film is slated for a December 2011 release.
Matt Damon is set top reprise his role of Tina Fey’s pilot boyfriend on the upcoming Live episode of NBC’s 30 Rock. He joins Jon Hamm and Cheyenne Jackson. Plot details have yet to be revealed, but may involve shooting of TGS.
There is talk that Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) has a hankering to get Kristen Bell into his planned The Munsters remake as Marilyn. “Are you kidding me?” he enthuses of the Veronica Mars powerhouse. “Kristen would be perfect.” Fuller states that Marilyn would have a beefed up role in this latest retooling of the classic series: “She is our eyes into the world,” he explains, “in the sense that we
all can relate to our families exhibiting some level of monstrous
behavior.” Fuller also mentions that the remake would be a cross between Modern Family and True Blood. “This version has teeth and isn’t afraid to use them,” he says with a
laugh. “For example, the story begins when young Eddie unexpectedly
manifests as a werewolf on a scout camping trip and inadvertently eats
two of his fellow scouts.”
Kathryn Erbe and Vincent D’Onofrio have both signed on to reprise their Law & Order: Criminal Intent roles for the eight-episode final season, coming in 2011. D’Onofrio signed about three weeks ago and Erbe has just inked the deal. The pair left the show after eight season and were replaced by Jeff Goldblum and Saffron Burrows.
Daniel Benzali joins a growing list of notables who have recently signed onto roles for daytime soaps. Benzali will be portraying the role of Theo Hoffman on General Hospital. He joins such stars as James Franco, Bruce Davison, Adrienne Barbeau, Michael Learned who have done the same. Over on The Young and the Restless, David Hasselhoff, Sean Young, Eric Roberts and Michael Badalucco have recently signed on for sudsing work.
