THQ’s Darksiders: Wrath of War just hit yesterday for PS3 and XBox 360 and has been getting a great response. Easily described by most as a postapocalyptic Zelda game, the game’s racked up an impressive amount of positive reviews, despite being relatively under the radar. Still, THQ is proud of their game and want to expand it into a franchise.

In the game you play as War from the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He’s pissed off because the apocalypse took place before it was supposed to and he’s trying to find out who’s responsible, fighting through angels and demons to find his brothers.

Joe Madureira, the comic vet who acted as creative director for the game, recently spoke with VG247 and dropped the news about a possible movie adaptation.

“We’ve gotten some interest from Hollywood, we’ve talked about doing a comic series,” said the exec.

“At least a couple of those things have to happen, I’m sure. It’s really a THQ thing, but I know they are definitely talking to people and I would be surprised if some of that stuff didn’t happen,” he said.

It will be interesting to see which video game it is that finally makes a big splash in Hollywood. Prince of Persia certainly doesn’t look like it- Uncharted? God of War? Dante’s Inferno? It’s just depressing that Resident Evil is probably the best adaptation yet.

Anyway, Darksiders is out right now and I can’t wait to check it out. Here’s a trailer to give you an idea of what you’re in for.
