Fox is working on a show called Terra Nova, a drama that will follow a family from 100 years in the future that travels back in time 150 million years to deal with the problems of prehistoric Earth. Variety reports that they’re looking to bring some huge names on the project as executive producers, namely Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin, but nothing’s set in stone just yet.
Apparently the show will use such huge sets and costly effects work that they’re looking to greenlight it directly rather than shooting a pilot, because the shutting down of the production would cost too much money. Yes, that means that you’ll likely see plenty of dinosaurs and other prehistoric beings, something that they would clearly want Spielberg to be associated with.
The show was written by Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel from the latter’s idea. Silverstein is also involved with creating a pilot for the La Femme Nikita remake for the CW.
The quest for a showrunner continues, but if Spielberg gets on board with Terra Nova expect to hear much more about this project very soon.
