Steve Carell is busy selecting material to cushion his departure from Dunder/Mifflin next spring. The first post Office project on the horizon for Carell’s Carousel Productions will be a feature length adaptation of the 2008 doc Of All The Things. The documentary focused on 70s superstar songwriter Dennis Lambert and his sudden departure from the music scene. Mr. Lambert was found living as a real estate salesman in Florida. When a Filipino concert promoter desperately tries to stage a Lambert centric concert, Lambert’s kids document their dad’s reluctance to leave behind Florida and return to the stage. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Freaks and Geeks, Bones) are the project’s screenwriters.

Steve Carell is going to rock out to We Built This City, people. Forget that image for a moment. I want a full-fledge Ray sequence, where Carell is in a domestic squabble yelling about marriage vows and artistic intent. When the scene peaks, we get an almost Walk Hard moment of Carell finding the spark to start writing We Built This City.
