Nottingham, Ridley Scott’s revisionist take on the Robin Hood legend – the archer is actually a scummy criminal while the Sheriff of Nottingham is a stand-up lawman – has rounded out another corner of its cinematic love triangle: Sienna Miller will star as Maid Marian.

“It’s happening. I just found out. It’s the most exciting news in the world,” she told BBC. “It’s ridiculous. But there’s this looming actor’s strike,
so it’s not 100% sure that it’s going to be made, but it’s looking
pretty certain.”

Russell Crowe is on board as the Sheriff; Hood remains uncast. The great and mighty Brian Helgeland is writing the script, which makes me happy. It’s not clear when the film will start, but strike madness aside, Scott’s latest (House of Lies, formerly Body of Lies) is wrapped and well into post, so it’s possible he could get this bitch off the ground before 2009.
