Earlier this year, Shia LaBeouf ruffled some feathers when he was caught making one of Hollywood’s cardinal sins — Never speaketh honestly about ones films.

Of Indian Jones 4 Shia said: “[Spielberg’s] done so much great work that there’s no need for him to feel vulnerable about one film. But when you drop the ball you drop the ball.” Then of Transformers 2, he said: “When I saw the second movie, I wasn’t impressed with what we did…Mike went so big that it became too big, and I think you lost the anchor of the movie.” Now, to those of us who foolishly ponied up our hard-earned cash to see those films, these statements seem almost too fair. But when one is starring in a certain upcoming third film in a certain franchise, well, certain other people get kind of annoyed when one points out that part of the franchise is anything less than a cinematic marvel. Certain other people don’t like that at all.

While I’m not suggesting it is total bullshit, I do think Shia was maybe trying to throw a little water on some of his still smoldering bridges when he rhapsodized his love for Transformers 3 like a drunk prom date to MTV.

This is, and I’m not just BS-ing you, it’s the best movie we’ve made of the three by far… The script is the best script we’ve had. The first movie, we had the discovery, and this movie really is the fruition of the rhythm we’ve created out of five years working together. I’m super proud of this movie. This is the best movie we’ve made, period, and that’s a unanimous
decision by everybody. The sizzle reel that [Bay] has been showing
everybody on set, it’s so outrageous. I’m very, very, very, very proud
of it.

LaBeouf also noted that this will be the last time he fights alongside the giant robots. “There’s no more for me, at least. I’m never going to do it again. This is the last one, so it’s balls-out.” I hope he doesn’t mean we have to see more transformer balls…
