We haven’t reported much on Sam Rockwell’s upcoming flick Moon, about a man trapped on the moon for three years, because details have been thin. But now Io9 has a still and the poster. The still looks great and I do like the poster, but they’re quick to point out the similarities to Mimic‘s original one-sheet, which are difficult to refute. I see Cube in there, too. What little we do know about the film suggests a tone akin to Solaris. Check out the synopsis as featured on the film’s sales agent’s website, circa Cannes:

Sam Bell [Rockwell] is nearing the end of his contract with Lunar. He’s been a faithful employee for 3 long years. His home has been Selene, a moon base where he has spent his days alone, mining Helium 3. The precious gas holds the key to reversing the Earth’s energy crisis…But 2 weeks shy of his departure from Selene, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things and feeling strange. And when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he discovers that Lunar have their own plans for replacing him… and the new recruit is eerily familiar.

The real reason this movie interests me, however, is the director: Duncan Jones, aka Zowie Bowie, son of David Bowie. He’s a British commercial director, but I briefly had him confused with a Vegas lounge act. A couple months ago I was at a Midway Games event in Vegas and a bunch of us ended up in a typical Vegas casino lounge watching a tanned, dimpled, botoxed blonde guy perform one amazingly bad cover after another. Accompanying him was an equally tan blonde woman with pneumatic tits he claimed was his wife. The singer was said to be Zowie Bowie, but none of us could believe it. Turns out he isn’t the real Zowie Bowie; he just performs under that stage name, while the ‘real’ Zowie Bowie directs under his real name Duncan Jones.

You can see some of Jones’ work here, which includes a clip of two girls fighting and kissing. Or check out the fake Zowie Bowie’s page instead. It has boobs.

Thanks to Gus Mastrapa, who also suffered the ZB stage show with me, for pointing this out.
