The San Diego Comic Con has been spewing forth lots of great stuff, and among that stuff is a plot synopsis for the Robocop remake.

Here it is.

“In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.”

2029. We never had a year previously in any of the Robocop films. They just took place in the future. I loved that. I didn’t need to know what year the films took place in. I just knew it was in the future. I didn’t care. Of all the things going on in the film, this is only the thing I hate. The first being this Kinnaman fellow that I hope I’m actually wrong about.

Also interesting of note is that the year is the same year that is prominently used in The Terminator franchise. I almost want to hope that this could lead to an actual Robocop Vs. The Terminator movie, but we all know that will never happen.
