I skipped Race to Witch Mountain because even my most forgiving journalist colleagues found the movie tough to sit through; this makes me zero for three when it comes to the films of Andy Fickman, who was also the auteur of She’s the Man and The Game Plan. But I’ll probably be soon breaking that streak; Variety has announced that the #1 filmmaker in America has signed on to direct Monster Attack Network, a giant monster film that will be coming from Disney.

The movie will be based on a graphic novel by AIT/Planet Lar. Here’s the synopsis from their site:

MARVEL! At the Pacific island of Lapuatu, perfect in every way…except
for the giant monsters. THRILL! As Nate Klinger and his daring team of
first-responders at the Monster Attack Network expertly deal with the
frequent rampaging-beast-related crises. WONDER! If the shady American
industrialist who comes to the island bearing “gifts” and the
mysterious, gorgeous Lapuatuan ex-patriate are up to no good. ENJOY!
The hair-raising adventures of the noble men and the drop-dead sexy
women of the MONSTER ATTACK NETWORK!

Like I said, I’ll probably see that.

I don’t know what kind of a character Nate Klinger is, but considering the fact that Fickman’s last two movies featured The Rock, might he be a big, muscular Samoan in the movie? I’d rather see Duane Johnson fighting monsters than fucking around with little kids, that’s for sure.
