Not sure how we missed posting this, but on Saturday March 19th at 10:00pm, Pee-Wee Herman will return to HBO.
Most of you grew up on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse without ever realizing that Paul Reuben’s character was originally a somewhat raunchy HBO special, so it’s nice to see that he’s getting back to his roots.
Coming off of his theatrical run in LA, The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway was hugely successful and the fulfilling of Reuben’s life-long dream, so it’s great that they managed to cram all those cameras and crew into the Stephen Sondheim Theatre to record it for the rest of the world. One can only hope that the newfound interest in Pee-Wee will pave the way for a new feature film.
