If you’re Woody Allen, this is a good week to sign actresses. Penelope Cruz just took the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, making the fourth Woody Allen-related BSA Oscar. Dianne Wiest owns two of the others and Mira Sorvino (who should probably just do a movie with Cuba Gooding, Jr at this point) has the third.

Not that last night’s award had anything to do with Naomi Watts signing on for Allen’s next as yet untitled project, but it can’t hurt. (She’s been nominated, for 21 Grams, but hasn’t won.) Watts will work alongside Anthony Hopkins and Josh Brolin on the new movie, of which we currently know nothing. We will probably continue to know nothing at least until a site like JustJared catches some spy photos of the location photography, which will take place in London.
