EDIT: No sooner do I post this than the real trailer goes up!

Original:

I’m sorry to say the trailer in question here is one of those previews wherein you see the whole trailer, but an entertainment host is talking about dramatic weight loss over the whole thing. Still, you get a good look at Jean-Marc Vallee’s film and the timbre of McConaughey’s performance as Ron Woodruff in it. There’s also a good look at Jared Leto’s attention-grabbing turn as a transgendered prostitue who assists Ron’s scheme to smuggle Mexican AIDS drugs into the US. And yes, for those interested in the gossipy side of things, both actors did indeed lose tons of weight to play some of the earliest victims of the HIV crisis. Don’t worry, ET will tell you all about it…

McConaughey has been on fire lately, with a proper hat trick of great performances last year (Killer Joe, Bernie, Magic Mike), another trifecta he’ll complete this year (Wolf Of Wall Street, Dallas Buyer’s Club, Mud), and a toe into next year as he leads Chris Nolan’s Interstellar.

Here’s the synopsis for Dallas Buyer’s Club, which we’ll see go wide in January after more limited December releases.

In this fact-based drama, Matthew McConaughey portrays real-life Texas electrician Ron Woodroof, an ordinary man who found himself in a life-or-death battle with the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies. In 1985, Ron was blindsided with an HIV diagnosis and given 30 days to live. With medications still restricted in the US and the country still divided over how to combat the virus, Ron procured non-toxic alternative treatments from all over the world through both legal and illegal means. To avoid government sanctions against selling non-approved medicines and supplements, Ron established a “buyers club” for fellow HIV-positive people, giving them access to his supplies.
