The upcoming Monster Squad
remake is proceeding as writing cousins Mark and Brian Gunn have been
hired for scripting duties. Original producer Rob Cohen is
returning to produce and direct. Michael Bay, Andrew Form,
Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes are producing, as is David
Ladd. The 1987 original, which Fred Dekker directed from a script he co-wrote
with Shane Black, concerns a group of kids who discover a plot by
Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Gill Man and The Mummy to try
and take over the world.
The Gunns previously worked on the direct-to-video sequel, Bring It On Again. They’ve most recently written the Journey to the Center of the Earth sequel, Journey to the Mysterious Island. They’re also set to script the Mighty Mouse adaptation as well and have Girlfriend Experience in development.
