Adults-only trailer adds a bit of mystique to Aja's next.
Amy Smart doesn’t rip her own face off until about a minute and forty seconds into the red band trailer for Alex Aja’s Mirrors (hosted at IGN) but even before that I was convinced to give this movie more of a fair shake than I did based on the original teaser. Yes, it still looks like a pastiche of ten other, probably better movies, but here I see some atmosphere and the hint of possible excitement, where in the teaser there was just a tonal void.
And then Smart’s jaw comes off and I get all giggly. I can be bored and jaded when pushed into that corner, but I’ve also got a weakness for blondes with only half a face, and while I’m nowhere near sold, I’m much closer to claiming a seat for this one. If only to make sure Aja gets enough money to make Piranha 3-D. ]]>
