UPDATE: Don’t start loading your pulse rifles yet, Chewers. It looks like that Instagram account claiming to be Michael Biehn miiiight not be run by the star of Megiddo: The Omega Code 2. There’s a bit of a scramble for clarification going on as I write this, and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out what the scoop is on Biehn’s involvement (or lack thereof) with Rampage 2… er, Aliens 2.

UPDATE 2: The Instagram account linked below has been outed as a fake and deleted. Considering how this entire project came to be, I bet this fervor will still cause Biehn to be cast in the film, so I’m leaving the article up for posterity’s sake. Sorry, Chewers.

Good news for all of you that are enthusiastic about Neill Blomkamp’s studio-approved fan film foray into the Alien universe: Michael Biehn has confirmed that he will return as Hicks in Aliens 2: The Quickening. Using the power of Instagram, Biehn let slip that filming for this audacious sequel is scheduled to begin sometime in August.

My Michael Biehn badass will always be Kyle Reese (yo, fuck Jai Courtney), but I know that the soft-spoken space marine is a beloved touchstone character, and I’m happy for all the people that this news will make happy. And I’ll be stoked simply because it’s Michael Biehn in a movie. My last exposure to him was in the tongue-tearing-through-cheek video game Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and that was deliciously Biehn-y.

I’m still deliriously intrigued as to how this is all going to work out without doing a mindwipe on everyone who saw Alien Cubed and Alien Tupac Halloween: Resurrection. Unless they actually are making a direct sequel to Aliens, the retconning with this film is going to be gargantuan.

Despite my apparently derisive attitude, I really am wondrously perplexed at this movie’s existence. It’s like a movie from an alternate universe somehow broke through the dimensional barrier and ended up in our reality. I have no bearing or opinion on whether it will be good or not, but you can bet that my curiosity is at its max.

We’ll keep you posted when the inevitable Lance Henriksen casting news hits.
