More and more news about F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is hitting us at a steady clip now. We just showed you the new Mech trailer earlier this week, and today in my mailbox I got a pretty nifty piece of shwag. It’s the Armacham Technologies Field Guide- and it’s what people will get for pre-ordering the game.

Never mind the crappy pictures, I never claimed to be a photographer! But this is a pretty damn cool extra for fans of the game- 62 pages chock full of info.

Rather than being an art book you’ll look at once and put aside forever (the key exceptions being the ones for Bioshock and Dead Space, which I rifle through every few months) this is a guide to the world of F.E.A.R. Perfect for someone like me who wanted to brush up on the game’s history before getting back into it, it’s got info about the key players, equipment- and a helluva lot about the story up to the point of the sequel.

It’s also got a whole section about creepy little girl Alma, the basis for Project Origin.

Anyway, if you want your hands on one of these yourself, there’s only one way to do it- brave the annoying customers of a Gamestop and pre-order it. You’ll make one employee’s day (and quota), that’s for sure! Or, just do it online.

Also, a demo of the game will be hitting on January 22nd for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. PC gamers will be able to find it on the official site.

The F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin demo will offer a glimpse of the action, terror and suspense of the full retail version of the game. Players will maneuver through bloodstained corridors and hallways from several locations in the game, as they combat through various parts of the city of Auburn, which now lays in ruin after the catastrophic explosion that rocked the finale of F.E.A.R.
