Alien Swarm
is a title you might have heard about before. It was originally an Unreal Tournament 2004 mod that got pushed to the side when developer Black Cat impressed Valve so much with their work on the Source Engine shooter that they were hired to work on high profile games like Portal 2 and the Left 4 Dead series. Alien Swarm is finally done, all these years later, and rather than charge for it they’re just giving it away!

The game is a 4-player co-op shooter but done with a top-down perspective, which amusingly feels fresh after so many first person shooters. It’s got tons of unique alien foes, inventive weapons, is pretty damn gorgeous, and did we mention the price?
