Louis C.K. is a funny motherfucker. One of the funniest living comedians right now, in fact. What else would you say about the man who wrote and directed Pootie Tang?
His sitcom Lucky Louie got screwed by HBO who canceled it after one season, just when it was hitting its stride. But it looks like he’s going to be getting another chance, courtesy of FX.
The channel is looking to bolster its comedy lineup, not being content with just having the funniest show currently in existence, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. So it has signed Louis CK on to create 12 episodes of Louie, which seems to be very much in the same mold as Lucky Louie. He will once again star as himself, a standup comic and newly single dad raising two daughters in NYC. He’ll be writing it again and will be incorporating standup material and stuff from his real life into the show.
Hopefully he’ll get some great comedians on board once again, like possibly lil’ Jimmy Norton, who was hysterical as his douchebag friend Rich.
Another show FX has in the works is called The League, described as “kind of suburban-set Sex and the City for men”, which makes me want to shoot myself in the nose. It’s about a bunch of old friends who run a fantasy football league, and is created by Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and his wife Jackie Marcus Schaffer. Mark Duplass (Humpday), Steve Rannazzisi (Paul Blart: Mall Cop), Nick Kroll (I Love You, Man), Paul Scheer (Human Giant) and Jon Lajoie will star.
Expect The League to cash in on next football season, and Louie to hit sometime next year. For now, enjoy this bit by Louis CK and be happy that the man is finally getting another chance at TV supremacy.
